The Bees

Durjoy
aka ‘Zom-Bee’

Durjoy started taking music seriously since 2004 and it was from then that he started composing his own songs and his only accompaniment at that time was his guitar, on which he could play only a handful of chords. Initially, he was excessively influenced by the songs of Bob Dylan and it was then that he took up the harmonica as his second instrument, and started playing both simultaneously doing that ‘one-man band act’. However, he sometimes refers to the fact that he is more of a poet than a singer. He has over eighty originals to his name and is the lead vocalist of the “Bee & the Buskers”.

Anindya aka ‘Fizz-Bee’

Anindya stumbled into the music scene under the influence of Tathagata, as a songwriter and vocalist. His initial desire to be a vocalist soon had to be given up due to his feeble voice. Incidentally, on an occasion when his first band ‘bedrock’ lacked a drummer, he decided to fill in the role of a drummer, for a gig. He has remained as a drummer since then. Anindya was roped in by ‘Ginger’, a punk band, in December 2008, a couple of months after he took up drumming. He has been working with that band, which came to be known as ‘the P.A.G.E’, ever since. Being with ‘the P.A.G.E’, helped Anindya to work on his drumming. His initial groovy technique was gradually moulded to a more technical speedy one, to suit the needs of a hardcore punk sound. But the dormant groovy style in him was given a chance to re-surface when Durjoy offered him the drummer’s part in a new project that was being formed, in the beginning of 2011. After an initial bout of refusals, he accepted the drummer’s throne for “Bee and the Buskers”, submerging himself in his favourite genres of blues, rock n roll, country and alternative.

Tathagata aka ‘Wanna-Bee’

Tathagata fell in love with Rock ‘n’ Roll when his sister made him listen to a Bon Jovi track, way back in 1999. Growing up he always kept an ear open to all forms of music and wondered what it’d be like to be on the other side of the radio. His first ever stage performance was in school at the age of 15 where he sang backing vocals for his school’s band. Being with the school band he learnt from his seniors and soon became the stand-in drummer for the band, being connected with the band gave him a chance to learn from the guitar player and by the age of 18 he had started making his own melodies. He bought an electric guitar after months of saving in the year 2008 and since has never looked back.

Avijit aka ‘Bee-Loonee’

Avijit has been in love with music since that summer holiday he decided not to step out to play with friends, but instead sit home and go through his father’s prized long play record collection, putting them one by one onto the turntable. Inspired by those sounds from the past, he’s been striving to create his own sound ever since. To him music is more integral than the instrument used to make itin hand is just the means, however, that does not curb his insatiable lust for various musical instruments, the obscurer the better! At present he plays the mandolin, electric bass, clarinet, flute, and occasionally the guitar. He sings as well, on rare occasions. Has been eyeing the saxophone and the button accordion for a while now, and maybe, will lay his hands on either one soon! He is a designer by profession. He is too lazy to shave or cut his hair, in dreadlocks by now, but smells good otherwise.

Role:
Electric Bass, Mandolin & Vocals

Genres:
Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, Rhythm n’ Blues, and Rock n’ Roll
